A former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, John Nanzip Shagaya, is dead. He was reportedly involved in a ghastly motor accident at Amper, along Langtang road, Plateau State on Sunday.
Family sources were quoted as saying the sad incident occurred on Sunday, February, 11, 2018. Shagaya, who was recently named the Chairman of the Board of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) by President Muhammadu Buhari, was elected as a senator for Plateau South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in April 2007. His election was challenged and nullified by the election petitions tribunal, but in December 2008 a Court of Appeal in Jos affirmed his election.
Shagaya was born on September 2, 1942. He retired as a brigadier General before going into politics.
